Air Purifier Reviews 4 Key Elements Design was launched

April 25, 2021 by john

Formerly, the Air Purifier Reviews – 4 Key Elements Design was launched. A detailed survey according to that design was sent to several important air purifier manufacturers. Sadly, save for 1, nobody else responded. It’s puzzling, to mention the least, for them to disregard customers of air purifiers. Do they not make them for end customers like us? Are we not probably the most likely to purchase an air purifier? The muted reaction is disheartening but we’re not about to abandon our efforts to build an info database for all users and possible users of air purifiers to make well-informed choices.

Further to our most current post, we have now included Scientific Peer Evaluation as the fifth important element in our air purifier reviews model. Even though it’s most likely to draw a blank within the foreseeable long term, it’s unavoidable. First of all, the starkness may inspire someone to become the debutante in creating the first acknowledged scientific peer review for an air purifier technologies.

But much more significantly, the lack of scientific peer reviews is really a major stumbling obstruct to the air purification business. It has didn’t win over essential individuals and interested events like the scientific neighborhood (indoor air quality experts, academics, environmentalists and activists). And most important of all, it’s not garnered the endorsement of government companies like the US EPA and NIOSH and the medical neighborhood who deal with allergy issues as well as other medical circumstances blamed on indoor pollution.

Missing in ALL air purification technologies

There is not a single air purifier reviews that contains a scientific peer evaluation. Be aware this issue isn’t confined only to the ionic air purifier business. It also plagues all other technologies in the air purifier business, be it the venerable HEPA and also the new-kid-on-the-block (fairly speaking) photo-catalytic oxidation, and so on.

Why does nobody within the air purification industry taken cognizance of this? Rather, the industry focuses its efforts on convincing the customer. Hundreds of thousands are invested on advertising. Good money that could have been much better invested. Why are they blind towards the fact the customer base would multiply manifold if only there is 1, just 1 scientific peer evaluation?

It’s a no brainer. As an integral part of any air purifier reviews, the scientific peer evaluation is the holy grail of the air purifier business. Whoever gets it first might well have exactly the same mythical energy of management within the multimillion dollar business.

Given the superlative (an understatement) importance of the scientific peer review, the greatest mystery is why nobody has deemed it worthwhile to create just one evaluation. It’s comprehensible that no air purifier manufacturer has commissioned 1 since that might negate the independence element that is central to some scientific peer review.

What is puzzling is why no scientist or researcher, especially the most qualified ones in the indoor air high quality or environmental sciences disciplines, considers it worthwhile to complete an air purifier reviews. Being the first to create a acknowledged scientific peer review inside a multimillion business should certainly put 1 in the highlight and open funding doorways of further research. And we know that preliminary funding isn’t a problem as we’ve a immediate quote in the US NIOSH that it’s ready to fund a scientific peer evaluation that is professionally drawn up using the requisite parameters.

That no scientist or researcher is prepared to embark around the quest to get a truly impartial scientific peer review begs the million greenback query – will be the air purification industry a large fraud on the consumer? Or do the scientists view it like a futile task similar to searching for the Holy Grail – reality that cannot be grasped?

The inability to answer these intriguing concerns drives us to greater inquiry with our 5-Key Elements Design. The reticence of producers to complete our survey questions according to the said design piques us to delve deeper on Air Purifier Reviews.

Air Purifiers for Allergies

April 25, 2021 by john

Millions of Americans develop breathing/respiratory problems if they breathe in air containing a variety of particulate (organic) matter (allergens) such as dust, pollen grains, fungal spores, mite, fibers, or pet hair) in our homes. More distressing is the fact that more children under five have become more prone to respiratory problems caused by allergies/asthma. The EPA, the American Lung Association (ALA) and even the Institute of Medicine, appreciate and recommend air filtration for people with allergies and asthma, not as a solution, but for alleviating the distressing symptoms of allergy/asthma.

When we speak of allergy air-purifiers, we are talking of airborne allergens such as: dust, pet hair, fungi/molds, mite allergens, fibers, etc. There are many air-purifiers designed especially to tackle these allergens. So, which one will you choose? Knowing the source of your allergy helps a lot. If you are unsure, consult your doctor. If you plan to rid your home of allergens, you can choose from HEPA, ionic, activated charcoal and UV air purifiers/filters. A high percentage of allergy healthcare specialists recommend HEPA allergy air-purifiers.

HEPA filters were first developed for NASA’s space shuttle. HEPA is an industry standard in air-purification. An air-filter with HEPA certification means it must be 99.97% effective at removing airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns. Many companies sell HEPA air purifiers, some much better in quality than others. The best have 5-10 year warranties on the machines themselves. HEPA filters must be periodically changed for optimum performance and longevity of your air purifier.

Ionic Purifiers (Ionizers)

Standalone Ionic air-purifiers do not need their filters replaced. When particulate matter comes into a stream of negatively charged ions emitted by an ionizer, the particles become negatively charged and cling to curtains, walls, or fall to the floor, away from the air you breathe. Though they don’t eliminate all allergens from the air, ionizers are noiseless and cheap.

*Note: You are advised to keep away from Ionic Purifiers (for indoor air-purification) that use ozone in their systems.

Electrostatic (Electronic) Air-Cleaners

Electrostatic precipitation air-purifiers are available as portable and whole-house models. The latter are installed by connecting them to the cold-air return plenum on your home-heating furnace. They are quite efficient and remove around 95% of dirt and 85% of microscopic particles. You can get further details of whole-house electronic air cleaners from domestic central-heating contractors. Installing electrostatic air-cleaners costs between $300 and $900, depending on the features you choose.

UV Air-Purifiers

If you have a problem with mold or bacteria, a UV air-purifier is an appropriate choice. These air purifiers emit UV light, which kills microbes such as mold, fungus, bacteria, and even viruses. UV air-purifiers range from a single-room appliance, to an advanced air-purifier that covers a large area by combining five filters – HEPA, Activated Carbon, pre and post filters and four UV lamps.

Activated Carbon Filters are great in absorbing chemical pollutants. They change contaminants from gases to solids. Activated carbon is porous, and can adsorb volatile chemicals that are molecular in size, but not larger particles.

Ozone Air-Purifiers

The only absolutely safe use of ozone generating air-purifiers is in uninhabited rooms.

Summary

In conclusion, a carefully chosen HEPA or its combination with other filtration systems is your best bet to tackle a majority of pollutants and toxins in the air you breathe.

Air Purifiers Ratings

April 25, 2021 by john

Where do you find the best air purifiers rankings?

That’s a particularly important question, since many websites claiming to be independent reviewers are just sales outlets for specific purifiers. And which do you think they rank highest? Themselves, of course!

Finding purely unbiased independent air purifiers rankings and reviews is a difficult task. But, I love a challenge. So here goes!

Consumer Reports (CR) is probably the best source for independent rankings. Not everybody agrees with their choice of products, but they do an excellent job of testing and, since they don’t sell products, their rankings are impartial.

All air purifiers ranked by CR are tested in a sealed room with specific amounts of dust and smoke released into the space. Each machine is then measured for how effectively they remove these airborne particles, as well as how loud they are. Ratings are listed for both low and high-speed levels.

CR ranks air purifiers every year or two, so those reviewed are usually available in stores. This is good since manufacturers bring out new models all the time.

Air Purifiers America (APA) also does a good job of testing and ranking air purifiers. Even though they sell products, APA seems committed to only selling good quality products to their customers. They do their own testing on a small number of purifiers and are very free with presenting the details of their research. They also rate products based on clean air delivery rates, independent testing and customer feedback. The APA website also provides excellent additional information for buyers of air purifiers.

But most other organizations that rank air purifiers – such as Allergy Buyers Club, James Dulley (a syndicated columnist) and Consumer Guide – mainly rely on anecdotal and subjective opinions rather than actual product testing. For the most part, they focus their air purifiers rankings on such factors as cost and noise levels and not on removal of odors, dust and allergens.

I also have considerations about two other organization for air purifiers rankings – the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) and Epinions.

Follow this link to read about

AHAM Room Air Cleaner Product Certification Program

Explanation of Epinions and directly to Review Room Air Purifier

In order to get an AHAM certification, companies need to pay several thousand dollars. Now, I’m not saying these are definitely paid endorsements. However, paying for certification is questionable – sort of a legal form of blackmail. Besides that, having an AHAM certification doesn’t mean the air purifier is good. It only means the company was willing to pay to be included. Surely there are manufacturers of great products who choose not to spend their marketing money in this way.

As far as Epinions goes, I’m all for everyone voicing their own opinion about products they’ve purchased or experienced. And there’s certainly no harm in checking out the opinions of others while you’re in the process of doing your research – you may pick up some extremely valuable information. But, even though Epinions may be fun and interesting, I wouldn’t base my decision only on this one source.

You’d be better off checking out the air purifiers’ rankings of Consumer Reports and Air Purifiers America before making your final choice. That is, if you want to make sure you get the best!

Air Cleaners vs Ionizer

April 25, 2021 by john

The fundamental distinction in between an air purifier and an ionizer is the fact that air purifiers eliminate pollutants from the air mechanically using conventional filters, while ionizers eliminate pollutants using electrostatic fields. Air purifiers assist raise the comfort degree in the home and reduce the probability of allergy or asthma assaults by eliminating airborne pollutants this kind of as mildew and pollen.

Air Purifier V/S Ionizer: Operation

In traditional air purifiers, a micro filter acts as a physical barrier that allows air to go through but not the particles current in the air. The air that’s sent back again into the space is thus pollutant-free. Probably the most efficient edition is the HEPA filter, which eliminates almost all airborne particulates. These filters need to be eliminated and cleaned regularly to help keep them working effectively.

An ionizer also works to get rid of airborne particles but instead of a physical barrier, these gadgets work by utilizing metal plates to make an electric impulse, that is disbursed in towards the air. This electrical impulse costs particles which are in its proximity and power them to be attracted to a charged collector place that’s fitted within the ionizer.

Air Purifier V/S Ionizer: Effectiveness

Studies show that conventional air purifiers thoroughly clean the air more successfully than ionizers. This really is since the filters attract and block all particles which are present in the air and with revolutionary filters such as HEPA, the efficiency levels go up immensely.

Whilst ionizers work equally as effectively by charging the air and getting rid of some airborne particles, the other particles escape and continue to exist in the atmosphere.

Air Purifier V/S Ionizer: Safety

The electrical charge that ionizers emit draws in and costs not only the airborne particles but also the air by itself. This implies the oxygen within the air will get billed too. When oxygen gets billed it creates ozone, which is an extremely corrosive gasoline and it is dangerous when inhaled. Even low amounts of ozone can irritate the lungs and exacerbate respiration problems this kind of as asthma.

Simply because they work by purely mechanical indicates, traditional air purifiers are overall safer to make use of in comparison with ionizers.

Air Purifier V/S Ionizer: Upkeep

Air purifier filters will ultimately get clogged using the airborne particles that they pick up and lure. Depending upon the house atmosphere and also the amount of dust and particulates present, they’d have to be changed every couple of weeks to several months. The price of these filters differs widely using the typical assortment being $50 to $150.

Maintaining an ionizer is cheaper in that there’s no need to buy replacement filters every couple of weeks or months. Instead the ionizer plate is just removed washed and changed. However, some ionizers send out far-reaching signals to dust particles. These signals charge the particles where ever they may be, creating the particles to stick to what ever surface area is nearby. The issue with this particular is the eventual dirt build up around the partitions and upholstery, which requires extra cleansing.

Air Purifier V/S Ionizer: Price Price

Whilst there’s not much cost distinction between air purifiers and ionizers, the cost of operating an air purifier is much higher because of the ongoing have to change the filters regularly.

Use Air Purifier Dust Removal To Protect Your Health

Air purifier dust filtering units can eliminate the risk of serious illnesses being aggravated by the dust mites that are ever present in modern residential homes. The air quality in most of modern buildings is far poorer than the air in the streets, and yet this is something which is not publicized and unknown in the media to anything like the same extent as the damage from industrial processes or vehicle exhaust. Despite having the lack of publicity, there is a whole industry devoted to giving you the chance to help to increase the quality of the air in your home and to protect against the risk of illness by using home air purifiers.

There are thousands of people who simply don’t realize that they really need an air purifier in their home, such as Honeywell air purifier and Hepa air purifier, and many others who don’t consider that the running costs will be worth it. After all, if there is no immediate threat to our health, there are typically other things the money can be spent on. This is an easy mistake to make, but there are very few homes that do not suffer from an excess of dust mites, even if they don’t have cigarette smoke or the complications that can be caused by having pets in the home. These airborne dust mites can be a constant source of irritation therefore people will need air purifiers for allergies.

If dust mites are the particular problem due to allergy sufferers, look to buy a model which meets the HEPA classification.

Conclusion of Air Purifier Dust

When you buy this kind of best air purifier for dust removal is guaranteed by the HEPA standard, that means that the air purifier machine has passed the government evaluation test that proves the capability of eliminating well over 99% of all airborne pollutants below .3 microns. The smaller particles can still get through the purifier system, but these are not the ones that bring with the serious problems people have with allergies. To be completely safe you will need to be certain that that the air purifier filters are replaced regularly, and some people even use a type of pre-filtration before the air reaches the unit.

The cost of a HEPA filter is likely to be greater than that of cheaper alternatives, but only in the first instance. If the machine is well taken care of, the filters should only need replaced occasionally, making the machine far more economical to operate than cheaper models where the filters only last for a short period. A lot depends on exactly how much dust is present in the room where the unit will run, but assuming the dust is not excessive the running expenses of an effective and quality machine will be negligible. You can definitely save money by ventilating the room at regular intervals from a purifier machine such as Austin air purifier.

#2 – Honeywell 50250N 99.97% Pure HEPA Round Air Purifier

At first glance one might not feel that the Honeywell 50250N 99.97% Pure HEPA Round Air Purifier wouldn’t be so affordable but it’s designed and manufactured to be the kind of room air purifying unit that the average person can afford. And it is quite affordable, but it didn’t quite stand up to a lot of the testing that we put it through when we compared it to the Whirlpool Whispure Air Purifier when we did our air purifier ratings.

It’s product features and specifications are as follows:

  • Dimensions: 18 x 18 x 19.6 inches and weighs 21 lbs.
  • True HEPA filter that captures particulates as small as 0.3 microns and removes 99.9% of pollutants.
  • Has 360 degree airflow at 3 speeds

This air purifier can actually cleans a room of up to 390 square feet. The patented Honeywell Round air Purifier proves itself by getting rid of the particulates, germs, dander and more and you can tell it’s working almost as soon as you’ve turned the unit on.

It also boasts the Honewell SurroundSeal HEPA filter that makes sure the air pulled in goes through the main filter.

With the Honeywell 50250N 99.97% Pure HEPA Round Air Purifier, the main air flow is the only drawback to this unit as it can give off a sound and make the unit appear wobbly. Not a major annoying sound but it’s just the sound that the heavy volume of air going throught the filter creates. Considering the power of this unit and the square footage just one of these covers, a wee bit of noise from the air going through isn’t that bad at all. You can still go about your regular routine without any noticeable noise pollution but it’s something to bring up just in case.

So again, at only 21 lbs and a foot and a half in each direction this compact unit does the job with all the real HEPA brand efficiency you want in an air purification system.

For something that covers so much air area it’s rather very affordable and compact, and when we did our air purifier ratings, we thought that for many people, having a unit that’s compact and small would suit quite a lot of people.

I know my wife likes smaller units so they don’t take up so much room, and I tried to take that into account when I was doing my air purifier ratings.

  • Electronic feature of a filter requires cleaning reminder that is quiet.
  • HEPA filter that doesn’t need replacement with dimensions: 19-3/8 x 19-3/8 x 19

They threw everything but the kitchen sink into this unit. It’s an ultra quiet and high speed unit that features the Honeywell SilentComfort HEPA air purifier which can catch airborne pollutant particles as small as 0.3 microns. It’s got the real deal HEPA filter with a carbon pre-filter for extra cleaning power.

How To Choose The Right Air Purifier?

April 6, 2021 by john

Air purifier reviews are something you will definitely want to take a look at, if you are considering buying an air purifier. When buying an air purifier you will need to take into consideration a lot of essential factors in terms of features and functionality. We have lots of important information for you, so let’s get started!

Dust, mold spores, pollen, pet dander and smoke particles – all of these air pollutants can cause a number of health complications, primarily respiratory problems with children and older adults. Air purifiers are designed to improve cardiovascular health. As per the recent study conducted in Copenhagen, it was found that cardiovascular health of non-smokers can improve by making use of a hepa air purifier.

In order to protect our loved ones from the harmful effects of unwanted pollutants, you can always consider buying a good quality true hepa air purifier. Air purifiers need not be expensive, as there are many reputed brands that have introduced a wide range of affordable models in the market.

How To Choose The Right Air Purifier?

According to experts, an ideal air purifier is the one that has the capability to remove even the most pollutant particle from the environment. When planning to buy your own air purifier, there are certain factors that you need to keep in mind. The list of factors that can affect the functionality and effectiveness of the unit includes – the size of the house, pets, and the location where you stay. It is important to choose only the best make and model of the best air purifier, designed to suit your particular needs.

Factors To Choose Right Air Purifier

Clean Air Delivery Rate – (CADR)

CADR, as the name suggests, is the measure of the efficiency of an air purifier in terms of removing the air pollutant particles. It is important to get the CADR number tested by AHAM. The report is provided for pollen, dust and tobacco particles. CADR is tested with the highest fan speed. So, keep this in mind when doing the same.

Safety

Most air purifiers from almost all major brands are safe to use in both home and office. However, some models may produce ozone and other gas chemicals known to cause irritants of respiratory system and can even aggravate asthma. Many states in the US, for instance, California has already banned ozone based air purifiers for home use.

Air Purifying Performance

The design and built of a hepa filter air purifier usually determine the performance. Make sure you match the product’s specifications with the kind of performance you expect or actually need. For instance, if you require filtering odor from air, you need a model with high quality carbon filters. Most low end air purifiers are equipped with carbon filters, but have limited ability to remove smells. This can be a problem for households having pets and even teenage boys with some bad lifestyle habits.

Features and Functions

Modern air purifiers in the market are available in a wide range equipped with basic to advanced features. While the final choice will depend upon your budget, it is important to understand how taking a closer look at features and functions will help you make the right choice. Most advanced features are good such as dirty filter indicator, automatic fan adjustment and air quality indicator.

Some air purifier features are self-explanatory, but many advanced features need detailed descriptions. But, you should not get carried away with all the features being offered because in the end, the only and most important is how good the air purifying unit. Here are some that you must focus on while buying. Others may be compromised if you have a unit featuring all the listed features.

HEPA-grade and True HEPA

Hepa filter is primarily designed to remove 99.97% of pollutant particles of size 0.3mm and larger. In fact, HEPA air purifiers have become quite common in the market. They are reliable, work well and have proven to be safe and effective. The only problem is that HEPA filters need to be replaced regularly to maintain the efficacy of the system.

In the market, the term “True HEPA” is quite common and companies makes sure that customers get attracted by this feature as it means that their purifiers are HEPA certified and meet the required standard. Since true HEPA filters cannot be washed, you need to replace them regularly, depending upon the requirements of your make and model.

Ionizer

Ionizer use electronically charged plates to pull air pollutants from the environment. It follows the law of Physics, where we learned that static electricity pulls hairs standing. This is exactly how Ionizer works. Best part is that it does not need filter replacement. But, you need to clean it regularly as the plates get covered with dusts and dirt that can lead to formation of rust.

 Carbon filter

These days most air purifiers make use carbon filter that chemically bind odors from the present environment. Since HEPA filters are not enough to remove odor, having a model with additional benefit of carbon filter will help you get best benefits. Remember that Carbon filters should also be replaced regularly as the carbon will be spending a lot of its potential to remove the odors.

Pre-filter

Pre-filters are designed to increase the lifetime of subsequent filters. Since True HEPA filters are quite expensive to replace and not everyone can afford the same, using pre-filters will save you money in the long run. These are washable and replaceable. They are also more efficient, as well as extend the life of the air purifier.

There are many famous brands like the Hunter air purifier, Hepa air purifier, Holmes air purifier, Honeywell air purifier that you will easily find in the market. These are most reputed and reliable brands of all. Even though we know about all the brands, it is still very important to be careful when choosing a particular air purifier model. We hope our air purifier reviews have given you all the information to make an informed decision. Now you should be able to compare well and pick the best as per your needs and requirements.

Guide to Air Cleaners for the Home

April 6, 2021 by john

A lot of people have written to me wanting to know more about Air
Cleaners for the Home. If you are one of them, then you might find the following article helpful in your search
for information. We hope you find some useful pointers.

Air pollution has always been a major concern, but when we speak of air pollution we often
refer to the air outside the home. These days, people are more concerned about pollutants in the air indoors,
especially those pollutants that cause asthma or trigger allergies.

As more and more children are being diagnosed with breathing problems and respiratory
ailments, there is a growing need for efficient air cleaners for home use. With so many types of air purifiers
available today, you have to find out how to choose the best air cleaner for you and your family.

Indoor Pollutants

Dust is a major pollutant inside many homes, and indoor air can be 2 to 5 times as
polluted as the air outdoors. This is according to the estimate of the Environmental Protection Agency. Dust is the
generic terms for the tiny residues that come off a house and its occupants. It can include pollution from the
fireplace, skin, cooking smoke, pet dander, molds, fungi, pollen, mildew, plant spores and other sources. Dust
eventually gathers on furniture, floors, shelves, etc.

People who have allergies, asthma and other bronchial problems can suffer badly from
airborne pollutants. Visible dust is approximately 10 microns in diameter. The dust that you breathe in is
typically 0.3 micron in size.

Other indoor pollutants include noxious odors and gases.

The Best Filters In Air Cleaners

If you want fresh air in your home you have to get an air cleaner with the best filters.
Cigarette smoke has very small particles and is difficult to eliminate, unless you have the right filters in your
air purifier. HEPA or High Efficiency Particulate Air filters are recommended if you want to remove at least 99.97%
of contaminants in the air inside your home. HEPA filters can remove even those particles that are 0.3 microns in
size.

To enhance the efficiency of air purifiers, a combination of filters is often used. Some
products are equipped with pre-filters, activated carbon filters, electrostatic precipitators and the like for
cleaner air in the home. Experts do not recommend the use of ionic-type filters because they are not very effective
and they emit ozone as a by-product. Ozone is considered an air pollutant and can trigger breathing problems in
sensitive individuals.

Numbers That Matter

When shopping for an air purifier, one of the numbers to consider is the CADR or Clean Air
Delivery Rate. This number is an indicator of the product’s ability to remove pollutants from air. A higher number
means the air purifier is more efficient and better at cleaning. To determine what CADR you need for a room,
multiply the square footage of the room by 0.75. This will give you the minimum CADR to look for in an air
purifier.

You also have to figure out the CFM (cubic feet per minute) of air that moves through the
unit. In general, 250 square feet of space requires about 100 CFM. Room models can provide up to 400 CFM while
tabletop models offer up to 175 CFM. You may also want to choose a model that isn’t too noisy and has an air intake
and output on opposite sides for maximum efficiency.

Air cleaners for the home are becoming more efficient and affordable. They also offer more
features including energy efficiency.

There is a lot of information to be considered before purchasing an Air Purifier and
those that are looking to get one are likely to want to find out a lot more information about air purifiers. Even
if this article serves as no more than an introduction, nothing stops you from putting the information to good
use.

Winix WAC9500 Ultimate Pet Review

April 6, 2021 by john

The Winix WAC9500 Ultimate Pet True HEPA Air Cleaner forms the cream of the high-end air purifiers in the market. With a streamlined design, it can be integrated into any home that has a rather cosmopolitan design about itself. This machine is designed for use in areas where the highest quality of air is needed such as in a family bedroom, where there are little children who can be sensitive to dust and other allergens.

The machine is quite powerful and it features the best technology in the market to clean the air. The PlasmaWave filter that is built into this machine further adds potency to the HEPA filter cleaning mechanism by making the dust easy to filter and remove. There is also the normal filtration process in the machine that needs the conventional filters and then the HEPA filter, which removes the airborne microorganisms. Testing has shown that this machine is indeed very effective. It was used in a room that faces a busy street in the main financial district of the city where there is ample dust. The air was fit for breathing in no time and considering that this was a rather large room, it can be said that the Winix WAC9500 is suitable for use in almost any location possible irrespective of the type of house and the room that it is to be placed in.

The Winix WAC9500 is great to control the dust levels and even the odor content in the room. If you have an animal such as a cat, this machine can remove all the odor that comes from them. In addition, any lint or fur that is left lying around is effectively removed. The pre filter can be washed when it gets full and needs replacement only when its quality gets so degraded so as to be ineffective. On the other hand, the HEPA filter is very effective and it requires no replacement as it is actually permanent. You merely have to clean it when the indicator shows that it is full.

This air purifier is quite intelligent as it has sensors that set it automatically to the sleep mode when the lights go off and based on the air quality, the power level is adjusted too. The manufacturer claims that this purifier can get rid of 99.99% of the airborne particles thanks to the PlasmaWave technology and based on the testing, it does seem true as users have reported a drastic decrease in their allergies and the like after they started using this machine.

This machine is very efficient in terms of power consumption too. It consumes only around 17W at the high power mode and can clean the air in a medium sized bedroom about 5 times in an hour. With this machine in place, there is nothing to worry about it in terms of the airborne diseases department.

There are hardly any downsides to this machine. In fact, it performs with such a low noise level that you will have to check if it is indeed running. Moreover, the maintenance of this is very low and you will save a lot of money in the later stages despite the higher initial investment. The only thing that can be improved is that the sleep mode should turn on right away rather than wait a while after the lights are turned off and the buttons for this mode should be made readily available. This is a great machine and a worthwhile investment.

    Pros

  • Very effective cleaning with the PlasmaWave technology
  • Pre filter can be cleaned with ease
  • Sensors work great for sleep mode

    Cons

  • Sleep mode setting should be made easier

Winix PlasmaWave 5300 Review

April 6, 2021 by john

The Winix PlasmaWave 5300 stands tall and streamlined in a medium sized room and it performs to the level of an industrial air purifier. That might be a slight exaggeration but its ability to skim through dirt in the air is pretty impressive and makes for a good corner tool in the living room or large bedroom. The machine is quiet and it has some interesting features that let it stand apart from the crowd.

The first thing that you will notice about the machine is the design. It has a vertical grill on the front that make the air purifier look rather streamlined as opposed to the conventional horizontal grill and vents. The body has a good brushed metal-like finish and it goes with any of the modern homes, but with air purifiers, aesthetics are not your first priority, right? Anyway, coming to the performance of the machine, it features the standard three-stage air filtration system starting with a pre-filter, followed by a plasma generator and a HEPA filter. The most impressive in these three is easily the plasma generator that can tackle polluting particles in air, which are invisible to the eye. The HEPA filter does just what the name says. It is very efficient when it comes to getting rid of bacterial and other allergens to keep the air breathable. The carbon pre-filter does most of the noticeable job as it traps the larger dust particles and filters the air to free it from foul odors and the like.

The machine tests good with rooms as large as 350-sq.ft but it can be stretched a little beyond that. Standard tests on this machine revealed that it was capable of improving the air quality in the room to near perfection and that too quite quickly. The interesting aspects of this machine come in the features of it. The most useful one is the presence of a sensor that takes care of the fan speed automatically. This means that you do not have to take pains in adjusting the speed manually and changing it when you feel you had enough.

The Winix PlasmaWave 5300 is rated to be pollutant free and it doesn’t emit any annoying gases like ozone. Moreover, it happens to be quite energy efficient, as certified by the agencies. The machine is fairly quiet and if you use the auto control, you can’t adjust the noise level, which gets slightly loud at high power levels. There are also air quality indicators on the front of the machine for your convenience and information.

This machine has been designed to perfection and it is fairly small too for the power it packs. It can sit in a corner of the room and do its job quietly. However, if you have to use the high power setting, make sure that it is done only for a small period of time, as we noticed some slight heating in the machine. In addition, the turbo feature, which is used for a rapid cleanup, works great but the downside is the sound that the machine makes in this mode. The included remote control is great to adjust the machine from a distance and it has its own little enclosure on top of the machine to keep the remote from getting misplaced. On the whole, a great machine to keep at home, especially in living rooms.

    Pros

  • Powerful and effective cleaning
  • Filters are effective and remove a lot of the particles
  • Automatic fan speed control

    Cons

  • Turbo mode is quite noisy
  • Slight heating issues
